there are an impressively large number of otherwise normal people who will just completely lose their brains when discussing this topic, i find. even though china has made it pretty clear--for close to a century now--that they are attempting to reduce the influence of the uyghurs and basically push them out of power where they have it by encouraging han chinese to move into majority-uyghur areas and destroying uyghur culture (they literally invaded independent turkestan to assimilate it, lol), it's for some reason a stretch of the imagination to assume they might take that a step further and just start tossing them in camps.
