    I'm surprised they'd add that in, since I think it could only serve to make the bill less legally legitimate. I also find it interesting how this bill specifically blacklists abortions for fetuses...

      Ultimately, the GOP know this law is unconstitutional, but they believe that now that Trump has stacked the Supreme Court...they think that the time is ripe to overturn Roe v Wade and make abortion illegal nationwide.

        I really don't think the goal is overturning Roe v Wade. Even for a conservative court that would be too much. I think the goal is to have the Supreme Court say this is in-line with Roe v Wade...

I think the goal is to have the Supreme Court say this is in-line with Roe v Wade (because "this is not a complete ban on abortions, if the woman's life is in danger we'll consider abortion"). This will allow all states to legislate similar laws that de-facto ban abortions
