this is the latest public statement about the dayton shooter by people that knew him; several previous people have come forward with statements saying he was a violent individual in the time that they knew him and this just adds to the repertoire of yikes this dude radiates.
despite efforts to equivocate him with the el paso shooter by right-wingers, his motive continues to remain unclear to police as far as i'm aware and the most that's seemingly been said about his political views with respect to the tragedy is that he was "investigating violent ideologies" by the FBI, which is vague but seems to point to his association with anti-fascists. the final call is of course with the investigation, but this still doesn't really scream politically motivated to me and it'd be strange to me if it turns out it is, because a lot of the circumstances of this shooting are baffling, politically speaking.
