I heard this on the radio today, but I wasn't fully paying attention, and the bits I heard didn't make sense. How could an Aboriginal Australian be deported? I was sure I misheard the news. But...

    But now it makes sense:

Both men were born overseas but moved to Australia as children and held permanent residency visas.

The Commonwealth thinks they're not Australian citizens because they were born outside Australia. That's why it thinks it can deport them.

It's nice that the High Court has decided Aboriginal people have a right to stay in Australia. It raises complicated questions about who is and who is not an Aboriginal person, but at least the principle is now in place.

It won't be long before the blood quotum for a legally recognised indigenous Australian is raised until there are none (legally) left. The insidious genocide continues.
