Hats off to Quanta for the "how it works" diagram; the underlying strategy isn't really fancy at all. Classic case of less-is-more in data science. Dumber strategies informed by human insight generally work better than yeeting everything into a NN.
Nothing drives me crazier than watching data scientists trying to polish a turd on time-series business data that's fucked by market conditions, operational changes, sampling issues, etc... when the real answer for how to model that crap is to pick a linear projection that makes sense and add some gaussian noise to it to make stakeholders think you did something fancy.

This is an incredible set of algorithms, I’m amazed this is the first I’ve heard of it.
