Don't get me wrong; I love my island. With all its issues and invasive species, it is still a lovely place. I'm happy that it can be shared and people have a livelihood. But I also see people struggling to just keep the endangered plants viable. There are ten or less Hawai'ian monk seals around the entire island. And when they lay on the sand in their favorite spots, volunteers guard them so people don't hurt or get hurt in their excitement.

I would like some places to remain untouched as much as possible. A sort of preserve until we've grown a little more as a species.

Hopefully it'll be left alone. It's pretty isolated, in a country with poor tourism infrastructure and little money to provide it. I guess at some point it could, and probably will, become a destination for "balloon safaris" or helicopter tours or something, but those days are probably quite far into the future.
