I love PFH's books. Especially in audiobook format. But for a Sci-Fi author to confuse teleportation with transportation is unforgivable. Let alone confuse those concepts with "pocket" wormholes...

But for a Sci-Fi author to confuse teleportation with transportation is unforgivable. Let alone confuse those concepts with "pocket" wormholes like what his drives use.

    I'll simplify it...
Teleportation is the transfer IN WHOLE of something from one place to another.
Transportation (as in transporters, not vehicles moving from a-b) is matter converted to energy, literally beaming that energy to another location and then converting that energy back to matter.

But for people who never played D&D (or most pencil/paper fantasy RPG's) they might not understand that.

That makes sense, I didn't realize there was a difference myself. Either way, I think his overall points still stand. Imagine entire industries: logistics, automotive, airlines... All rendered...

All rendered useless. One impact that immediately comes to mind is, if we were to get to a point where travel by traditional means (e.g. Automotive, plane, train, etc) is not needed, the environmental savings would be huge.
