This is a minor niggle, but I always find it disconcerting to encounter American units of measurement when reading an article - especially in a scientific article. I have to stop and try to convert them to scientific units, to be able to understand the size of the thing being described, and it breaks the flow of reading the article.
They said on the news just now that the impact equaled 45 million of the nuclear bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima. That's basically impossible to imagine!
