Weekly US politics news and updates thread - week of December 23

Matt Gaetz, former Trump AG pick, had sex with underage girl while in Congress, House Ethics report says
I didn't think this would be released through official channels, but they had a secret vote and at least one Republican broke ranks.
Matt Gaetz is pretty broadly disliked by his former colleagues. I'm not surprised it came out one way or another. Considering everything he did to try to stop this release, I'm genuinely surprised it isn't worse.
Oh, I definitely expected it to be leaked. I just didn't think Republicans would risk the backlash of being potentially found to be disloyal.
Traditional political analysis would call Trump a lame duck. I think maga supporters being personally loyal to Trump and actively punishing his enemies is a risk I would consider if I had to make that choice
