Exemplary
I just got home from the downtown protest. Despite some of the images you might see of burning cars and people throwing objects at police, it was overwhelmingly peaceful, thanks in large part to the various groups of organizers trying to keep people together. From what I saw, less than 5% were agitating. Of that small fraction, most were throwing water bottles at police after police fired smoke and flash bangs (not sure if that's the official term?) at people.
Big thanks to LAPD for letting me experience tear gas for the first time. I'm not sure what prompted that as I didn't hear any dispersal order and I was walking through a group of people who were just standing around, but whatever. One for the memoir, I guess. All in all, it's not a pleasant experience, but not as bad as I thought it would be -- 2.5/10. Shout out to the guy who washed me off with a bunch of milk.
Be safe! I don't trust the escalation by the government and the implication that protestors are committing treason. But also thank you for being out there.

video link showing an Australian journalist being shot in the leg with a less-lethal round at less than 20 feet, with zero provocation. https://bsky.app/profile/luckytran.com/post/3lr5amqrwlc2j
