Huge win for sure! When Pele came to play in North America, the sport hit new levels of popularity. The MLS has been doing fantastically for a decade plus in terms of development, but it needs some world-class talent to sell more seats and subscriptions. They've done a pretty decent job of bringing in elite level international players on their way out, but nobody as big as Messi. I'm hopeful that this will create a sort of snowball effect to bring in more international talent AS WELL as motivate North Americans to treat soccer/football more seriously.
I, for one, will spend a fair amount of change on a ticket to watch my local MLS team play against Messi (featuring Sir Beckham).
