All-around shitty situation that shows how poorly the NFL treats its players. Earl Thomas was widely agreed to be the best player on the Seattle defense (after the rest of the "Legion of Boom" from 5 years ago was devastated by injuries). He was trying to negotiate for more money in his contract extension with Seattle. Now his second leg fracture in 2 years means he's likely out for the season, or a huge part of it, and his negotiating position with both the Seahawks and other teams that might want him is reduced by the injury.
