Friday had a couple of my wife's friends over and we went to the Dita von Teese show. Was an interesting night that attracted all kinds (good people watching), casual people in t-shirts and jeans, punks, goths, rockabillys, people dressed to the nines, and chunks of the local high snob-ciety. There were several talented acts, acrobats, and the like and it was an overall enjoyable show, but I also didn't get the appeal of Dita von Teese herself. Sure, she's an attractive woman and all, but despite it being her show and branding that sold out the theater, she doesn't actually do anything. All of her acts largely involved her walking around while the supporting acts did dance numbers, acted out a scene, performed acrobatics, etc. she would slowly take off a piece of a very fancy outfit from time to time and stand there like it was a gift to see her alabaster skin, but that was it. There was no talent as shown by her supporting acts, no dancing, jokes, etc. My wife and I are fans and frequenters of burlesque shows, but I've never seen anyone just stand there like that. I brought this up to some others and the general response to my statements that she doesn't do anything was "Yeah, but she's so pretty." I admittedly don't know Dita's history/rise to fame, but I hope it involved something other than being pretty. I think we'll stick with local/small burlesque shows going forward, Dita isn't worth the $100 per ticket and $30 each drink prices.

Saturday was breakfast with the friend's that stayed over, little local Mexican place (kept half the giant bowl of pozole to make pozole ramen later that was amazing), then relaxed until the evening where I dropped my wife off with other friends for a girl's night out. Plan was to go back home and await a call to be her personal uber, but ended up staying at one of the husband's house and talked about random stuff, life, DnD, marriage and drank whiskey.

Sunday was spent in the biting cold and high winds getting the rebuilt transmission back into his truck after the multi-month ordeal of tracking down out of production parts for a vintage pickup truck's transmission.
