Pinch, punch! First day of the month.

No returns.

Is this just a British silly thing we do before midday on the first of a new month, or is it a global thing?

Any other silly calendar traditions in your country?

Us Dutch have a tradition at exactly noon on the first monday of the month:

For about 1.5 seconds we collectively: 1) Worry the Enemy is About to Invade the Nation, 2) Quickly scan the room to find a clock and confirm that it's noon, 3) Mentally check that it's a Monday, 4) then go "huh, guess it's a new month already".

For (some much needed I'm guessing) context: Our air raid sirens go off at 12.00 on the first Monday of every month :p

This Dutch tradition now comes with a wonderful bonus jump-scare, in the form of your phone losing its absolute shit at you too:

BEEP BEEP BEEP NL ALERT TEST NL ALERT TEST NL ALERT TEST BEEP BEEP BEEP

Edit: In case you're curious what the air raid alarm sounds like

That sounds like similarly but more so "make you jump" way of learning it's a new month since often the pinch is accompanied by a lunge to get their pinch in before you which when you're not fully...

Not sure the origin but my wife writes out a note to our daughter on the first day of each month for her to find when she wakes that reads:

    “Rabbit!
    Rabbit!
    Rabbit”

Now that she’s in college it’s a text message and I expect to see it the moment my wife wakes up this morning.
