The civil conversation is what’s so nice about tildes. I was called an idiot with no common sense among other insults on reddit today because I thought it was hypocritical for a state to enact a seatbelt law while recinding a motorcycle helmet law. It’s like, you don’t gave to agree but why sling insults about something so inconsequential?
That's something I enjoy here as well. I'm more of a lurker on reddit, but my friend who comments and posts fairly frequently has been in multiple pointless arguments with some bullshitter.

That's such a an obscure opinion to evoke enough of a reaction that you'd insult a stranger on the internet. I'm kind of impressed at the dedication to assholery.

I'm brand new as well, coming from an 11 year old reddit account. I definitely agree that it feels like old-school reddit, from the good ol' days when /r/programming was a default sub.

And when comments were first enabled, a link with 100 comments was rare! It's rather refreshing. We both got in on the ground floor of new sites, and I'm hoping this goes on to grow, but hopefully...

Welcome to tildes! Unlike reddit, we prioritize civil speech. So chat away politely with everyone from Firefox Employees to MAGA voters.

Hi. I'm relatively new as well. Only joined about 2 weeks ago. :)

It's awesome seeing the community grow like this :)
