I've been doing Project Euler exercises to brush up on my programming skills and practice the Rust language some more. It's a little discouraging to me that I have to rack my brain for some of these low-difficulty problems. BUT encouraging in that I'm independently coming up with solutions. Even if they're not the most optimized... Anyway, solving these problems provides a nice little dopamine hit, which is satisfying.

Also, I figure this would be a good opportunity to practice using Git, so I've set up an encrypted Git through Keybase so that I can do these problems via my work and home computer.

Other than that, I'm going to try not to do much else this week besides the usual upkeep (exercise, reading, practicing guitar, etc.) as last week was ...quite the week.

Anyway, I'm mostly interested in learning/playing jazz these days...which..hasn't really been popular in some 40 years, or so. Guess I'm just behind the times.

Though, I make other kinds of non-guitar oriented music, as well.

I'm behind the times as well and that's a feeling but it is based on a number -The Hot 100 of course! In the space no currently occupied by someone called Post Malone /shakes cane at cloud/ the only guitar acts i can see are Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Luke Combs (whoever that is), Panic! at the Disco (but how?!), and someone called Shawn Mendes /aging intensifies/ and I guess a bunch of country music.

Okay so the guitar is still out there. It's just not like... as much of a feature. Like how many of those songs has a guitar solo nahmean?

Anyway, doesn't bother me much. The guitar is just a tool for creating some melody and harmony. If people are doing that with other tools, more power to 'em.

That said, I still enjoy good guitar music. and also, non-guitar music

Although I don't think he's Top 40, this Leon Bridges track is probably my favorite pop song from last year and has some pretty tasty guitar parts in it.

On Friday morning I'm having a SMILE operation on my right eye. The coffee place near the clinic has very nice cookies, so there's that.

Hopefully somewhere throughout the week I'll have enough time and energy to respond to my E-Mail pen-pals. My latency there has become quite terrible.

Just yesterday I got an awesome deal on some 23" 1080P E2314H Dell monitors from a thrift store, just $32 for 4 monitors, 8$ per monitor. They all work and (after a little cleanup) look awesome. I still have yet to clean up my desk after getting them now, and also I need to buy a DVI cable for the 4th monitor. I did previously have a 4 monitor setup, but all the monitors didn't match at all, so I'm stoked to have these monitors.

I started school this week!I It's a huge commute for me, but I managed to cram all my classes into three days by taking one online. I was so scared it wasn't going to be doable and that maybe I was making a terrible mistake. I may be making a mistake, but it's totally doable, and I don't care if it's a mistake anymore.

No, I'm fortunate that I do not have to work for a while! I tried this once before a long time ago as a single parent working full time. Already I can tell that this is a much different experience. For example, I can come home, eat, study, and have a glass of wine!

Thank you for reminding me to take advantage of the resources. I often try to forge ahead all on my own - reinventing wheels and all that. I should be different, and I will be.

I agree with @gpl that movies are a weird first date. Great second or third date though. The fact that there is ~2 hrs of sitting silently in the dark and the only conversation is movie talking... idk I've done it and it felt weird. Like after the movie you're like all of a sudden on a date again. Unless OP is 15 and is just gonna make out the whole time... also done that and it's 10/10 for sure.

First dates with an accessible activity like bowling or skating rink are good, too IMO. Picked that up from the person I'm seeing rn and that was definitely a good first date.

I've always felt that Movies make for a tough first date precisely because they remove the pressure of conversation. It may be a bit less stressful but you walk away from the date not knowing a ton about the other person or having a lot to reference back to.

Then again, a movie followed by coffee/ice cream/etc can be nice because the movie gives you both an immediate topic of conversation.

Yea, for sure, a follow-up activity would be nice for the reasons you stated. I think a movie helps people get comfortable in each other's presence, though. Especially something funny!

Tonight I'm gonna watch the second half of the Singapore Gran Prix. Forza Ferrari! I even caved and bought the F1 TV package cuz I'm a big Sebastian fan.

Then I'm probably gonna watch a bunch of Charles Eistenstein videos. I just read his book Climate: A New Story and feel like this is a thinker whose work I want to dive into. Which is the first time I've had that since... geez Chomsky I guess. Usually it's like "oh this seems interesting" and I get the two or three big ideas after sifting through a lot of "meh." But this guy brings the goods!

I also am working on a one-sheet for an organizing/activism group I want to get started. I have a lot of friends in media and design who are hungry for a way to use their skills towards a good cause/saving the earth from capitalism. I figure this would be a good way to help them channel that and have us spend time together again since we are all gradu-tated now.
