    I'd been eyeing an old WebTV at the thrift store but passing it up thinking it was just a brick anymore, but then discovered there's an active community with a number of custom servers and firmwares. This particular project caught my eye as it seems to very faithfully recreate the WebTV service as I remember using it back in the day.

    For better or worse, WebTV was my first introduction to making webpages, sending emails, using IRC, and getting hooked on browsing eBay listings, so I've got a certain fondness for it despite its (many) flaws. It should make for a fun little project to slap a Pi on the back and get it online again.

WebTV was my introduction to the internet and where I first learned HTML, email, etc. I may indirectly have it to thank for my love of computers/technology and taking a career path in the field. Very nostalgic for WebTV (and TechTV... a technology TV channel that was another big influence on me that I was consuming around the same time as using WebTV)

      Thanks for posting this. A lot of good nostalgia/memories coming back from seeing this.
