This 2 minute video showcases Robbie, a robot guide dog. Robbie has the advantage of being non allergenic, he's able to respond to some conversation, doesnt require a long training period, he can describe the surroundings, he auto charges and he doesn't leave any 'doggie do' behind.
But traditional guide dogs are also faithful companions and develop deep bonds with their master. It begs the question, would the advanced tech of a robot guide ultimately be a greater benefit than the companionship of a real guide dog?

I imagine it would be helpful for someone who needs a guide dog, but maybe has a deep rooted fear/trauma related to dogs, or a phobia.
