Just because a certain feature has some useful benefits to some users in some situations, does not necessarily make that feature a good idea to implement. I'm glad that that it seems Microsoft may be reconsidering what an Orwellian nightmare Recall almost certainly will become, but I don't think there's any way it won't be released in some form or another eventually. It seems like when company execs figure out a way to integrate AI into their products the enormous green cartoon dollar signs that appear in their eyes make them blind to all the obvious reasons it's probably not a good idea.
I think they don't mind Orwellian nightmares. It'll get encryption and a mechanism that censors financial information and passwords, then it'll get released anyway. After the PR disaster dies down.
