Google, Facebook, Microsoft, and Twitter partner for ambitious new data project

This seems pretty interesting. Maybe I'm cynical, but when I read the headline I envisioned something else. This looks like a good-faith effort between social media companies to allow users to transfer their data between platforms or more easily back it up.
