Pretty harsh, but in line with the other reviews I've read on the Magic Leap. Which is a bit of a shame, since a proper AR headset could really revolutionize mobile computing. With display size no longer being tied to the physical size of the device, smartphones could make a serious dent in the market share of laptops used for a lot of non-intensive tasks, like note-taking or remote system access.

I did find this part of the review particularly funny and a little surprising:

They should have made the battery replaceable, but nobody is going to use their ML1 long enough for that to matter to anyone but collectors with an aim to preserve the history of AR and VR.

Why on Earth did they not make the battery replaceable? They're not space constrained, since the battery goes on a pack clipped to the belt. I can't imagine it would've been more expensive to just run it off a few user replaceable 18650s as opposed to sourcing a presumably custom battery.

I honestly find it difficult to take anything Palmer Luckey says seriously, knowing that he has mostly just used his Facebook money to sit around and troll people on the internet, and may have actually funded neo-confederate causes.
