The general conclusion is, if you're an educated user, you don't unnecessarily grant privileges to apps, don't ignore warnings, have secure passwords, and are not someone that someone would like to get photos of, you're probably pretty safe.
Still: My parents? Various people not well acquainted with tech? Mark Zuckerberg? Maybe they can have their covers.
There's certainly some nuance to it too—short of targeted attacks, everyone is going to be subject to zero-days/bugs/etc, but there's mostly no reason why we need to be terrified about surreptitious camera access.
