Has anyone tried out the tools from Solid? This looks intriguing. It's basically a standard for storing and sharing data on the internet. The idea is to have a pod of data that you can store at any provider and give as much or little access to any bits of it to whomever you please. So you could host web pages there, or videos, photos, and music. Some of it could be publicly accessible to all, some of it only to friends and family, or only yourself. You can write apps and grant them access to parts of your data. If you don't like your provider, you can easily take your data to a different one.
So my question is, has anyone tried it? Does it work as advertised? Are there many tools for using it, both as a content creator and consumer? They only list 3 providers that can host your data pod at the moment, so I'm not sure if it will gain enough momentum to reach critical mass. But I like the ideas they put forth.

They say not to put anything personal, sensitive, or important in your data pod at this time. So I might try it with my hummingbird videos or something like that. But let us know how it turns out for you.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. I haven’t used it yet but maybe I’ll check it out this weekend and report back
