This is why I think a subscription mechanism is the better solution. If people want to be made aware of changes to text topics then they can subscribe and be automatically notified when they occur. And similarly, if they want to be made aware of any new comments in a topic or particular thread they can subscribe to those. This would give the power to decide what they want to remain informed on entirely to the users and not result in so much needless spam as using an @all type mechanism.

Why not @ll? The a is right there.
Though I think that should be set as a 'subscribe to updates' kinda thing.
