Another excellent video on LA transit from Nick Andert, this time explaining some of the ways a lack of communication between planners in different agencies can cause construction costs to go up in the future.

This video is the first in a series on construction costs and transit planning focusing on the US city of Los Angeles. LA will host the Olympic games in 2028, and while it has a reputation for being car-dependent, that quality is somewhat overstated. The city's Regional Connector (recently completed) will allow for through-running trains, an incredible aspect of any metro system, and the city has plans to build many new transit lines in the near and medium term.

The LA mayor has stated that the Olympics will be accessed mostly by car-free methods. The goal is really to make the city into a modern transit paradise. We'll see how that goes - the region's transit agencies probably ought to watch Andert's video.
