Nick Andert is a knowledgeable transportation person and makes a lot of great content focused on the LA region. This video is his 2024 report covering everything that's currently happening with rail and bus rapid transit in the area, including planned projects in the near and far future.

In short, there's a lot in the works! The city is trying to prepare for the Olympics, and that means building out a heck of a lot more transit. Buuuut... classic American mismanagement and pandering to NIMBY property owners who are intentionally presenting bad-faith arguments in order to "derail" transit projects end up delaying things a lot.

Andert is often harsh in his criticism of project mismanagement and cost overruns. This video is especially harsh, dreary in some parts, in the context of the election. And he goes on a lot about wealthy Bel Air property owners complaining about subway tunnels 100 feet underground (you can't feel it even if it's 50 feet underground, or TBH 30), and about various government agencies that are organized in an inefficient way. The usual transit advocate hair-pulling stuff. But the video has a really good overview of everything that's going on in the region, with elegant and clear routing animations.

There is a lot to be excited about, even if many projects aren't going as well as advocates would prefer.

This video has several action items for transit advocates listed in the description! Check them out!
