Heading to Korea for New Years - Anything I shouldn't miss?
Hi y'all!
I posted a couple of months ago about heading to Japan for a solo trip, and I got some good recommendations (including a great bar crawl that I loved). And now I'm heading to Korea for New Years!
I'll probably be doing a bunch of clothes shopping, anywhere I should head to? Especially for street/tech wear if possible, but I'm open go all fashion styles atm, getting tired of my closet!
I have a couple of the big spots, a palace and a temple for sure. I'll be in Seoul for 3 days, and Busan for 3 days (including New Years!)
Bonus question, if you know any tattoo artists around the area that you trust, I'm open to getting a new tattoo too!
Edit: I have a ton of Korean friends and one thing they mentioned was that Gangnam is overrated, I'll probably only go there for a couple of hours at most, unless there's something crazy that I'm missing.
Well... 3 days is not a lot of time in either city. I doubt you'll have time, but I highly recommend a day trip to Gyeongju. I spent two weeks in Gyeongju and never ran out of things to do, eat, or see.
I guess my generic recommendation is try to go hiking at least once. Busan will be easier to find good hiking spots. Enjoy it!
Yeah, it's mostly just a mid stop before I meet up with my family in Taiwan honestly, and my Korean friends mentioned that Busan was better food wise than Seoul. I'll probably go back afterwards but figured I'd get a sneak peek first!
Good rec, I'll see if I can fit it in my schedule! :)
Thanks for the recs! I think I saw some UNESCO world heritage sites in my research too.
I think all my Korean friends would kill me if I didn't get kimchi jjigae, fried chicken, kbbq, etc. I have a whole list of things I MUST try lol
haha I live in a state where I can get a lot of good Korean food and I'm really looking forwards to how much better it is in the motherland
