At the end of season three Mackenzie Crook, the creator, was offered another season if he wanted it but turned it down because he felt the stories he wanted to tell had been told and I have a huge amount of respect for that decision. Bearing in mind that's UK-length seasons of 7-8 episodes each, so there are just twenty episodes in existence. Ending something at the right time is far better than more seasons that aren't any good. Scrubs season nine, looking at you..

One of my favorite shows is returning for one last episode! I know there are some people who love this show here, so I thought I'd share the news. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend...

I shared my quick thought about it on one of the TV Tuesday Free Talk threads.

Detectorists is great. They got so much right in this show. It feels a bit odd to talk about world building for a comedy, but they build a world and they put some great characters in it. The first episode might feel a bit light, but you watch it, and then you watch the next, and before you know it you've binged them all.

Mackenzie Crook also made Worzel Gummidge -- and it's fantastic if you're looking for something gentle and funny that you can watch with children.
