Swarm was a wild ride, hilarious and disturbing. Great writing and acting.
Finished Extraordinary recently, great superhero comedy with interesting worldbuildling. Reminded me of Misfits.
Watched the first episode of Poker Face. Cute concept and decent humor, but the plot was kind of dumb and the writings not great. Probably won't continue with the rest of the season.
Been watching Animal Control as well. It's alright for a workplace sitcom, has room to improve though. Joel McHale's character is too similar to Jeff from Community I think, the loner who thinks he's too cool to have friends initially.
I've enjoyed Shrinking for some time. From the trailer and the first episode I initially thought it to be too silly but after getting to know the characters better through the episodes I found the silliness well integrated with deeper subjects and well made dialog. Then something really weird happened last night when I watched the latest episode (S1.E9). It was like the had turned up the Flanderization to the max and I've never experienced such a fast decline before. Sure this is a well known problem for a lot of shows but here it seemed completely unnecessary, sudden and ridiculously fast. It was almost like the had completely different writers or directors from one episode to another. I hope it's just a fluke or I'm overreacting but my experience tell me when you take that first step it rarely goes back.
Poker Face ended, it was pretty good overall. I think there was only one episode where I wasn’t interested in the story at all.
I watched all of Smiling Friends. That was alright. I’m not a huge fan of Oneyplays or anything but I convinced myself to watch the show after seeing this video. Overall I’d say it’s pretty good, light-hearted entertainment. Definitely made for a certain irony-poisoned person but it makes fun of that type of person enough for me to be fine with it.
