I have Netflix, Disney+ and Prime video, no way in hell am I paying for more. I'd drop prime video if it wasn't part of amazon prime and I'm thinking of dropping Netflix at this point. I personally wouldn't keep D+ either but my kid enjoys its library.

the problem is that consolidating all of this content down to one or two services would result in significantly higher subscription costs, significantly less content being produced, or a mix of both. even with a $20/mo subscription it's not realistic for netflix to shoulder the production costs of the entire film and television industry.
i do think some consolidation is inevitable, but people wishing for a "spotify for movies and tv" aren't going to get it. especially considering spotify still hasn't proven itself sustainable (they pay artists and labels shit, and still aren't profitable despite that)

Film and television are an enormous industry, that $4.5B net revenue Netflix enjoyed last year is nowhere near enough to cover the remainder.

As for the show - I like it so far. Needs some more character development and it is far behind the original in terms of quality. But also a bit unfair to compare three episodes with 11 seasons.
Frasier, Freddy and Alan works well. Eve is okay so far but David needs way more depth to become interesting. He is like a one-liner Niles written by someone who has only seen a compilation of random clips of Niles' punchlines. It is impossible to write a Niles replacement character to the same level, but it can be better than what they have now.
Another example of the streaming conundrum: does it make sense investing in a possible hit show to promote a streaming network if this limits the audience and ability to recoup the investment? Any...
