The conflict and politics are easy to follow. Episode one is a straightforward retelling. I highly recommend it.

The actor playing the Spanish pilot Rodriguez speaks English to people who understand Portuguese (representing Portuguese but allowing the tv audience to listen in as English speakers.). The Japanese characters speak Japanese but there are subtitles.

The script writing is clever in some ways and they definitely used the book as primary source

    Spoilers for Season 4

In keeping with season 1, the ending was lackluster in my opinion. I wish they’d lean in on the mysterious aspects of the story they present as being reality-adjacent.

In many ways, this felt like pure derivation of the first season, including the “Fix it” mentality of actually succeeding in shutting down the mine, compared to Season 1’s complete lack of consequence for the Tuttles.

Spoilers for Ted Lasso through s02e07 "Headspace" I just got through "Headspace", the one where Roy is smothering Keeley by spending all his time with her, and he screams at Jamie for not running up to his teammate to support him, and all the players agree that no, Jamie was right to trust the player and give him space

    - that episode was so well written and funny. It's an amazing show so far, in a "Scrubs" kind of way.

I rewatched both seasons of From

My opinion remains about the same:

Season One: the first season is excellent, really scary, sets up a great world, I want to hear more about these characters and their conflicts, I want to understand more about the rules of the world and how it al works, this is a great set up for a long running show.

Season Two: Oh, here's a literally bus load of new people. How do they get food? Er, okay, magic. How do they get power? Er, okay, magic. Okay, this fella is an absolute bellend and I don't care if he dies, and he doesn't believe the monsters are real so just let him go out in the night and see for himself, wait, this music box line is garbage. Here's an interesting idea, and wonder how that'll play out. Oh, they didn't mention it ever again. Here's a cool character, I wonder how she'll interact with people. Oh, she never gets seen again, mostly because we're spending so much time with this idiot that everyone hates.

Apparently it's got some connection to Lost and that pans out. But the writers need to understand that if you're writing a show that is designed to generate fan theories you need to at resolve some of them. Obviously you can't do all of them, but they need to do one or two at least.

The other thing I'm watching is old episodes of Crown Court on YouTube (Content Warning). If you like court room drama that stays in the court room you might be interested in this. Don't get me wrong, I loved For the People and I wish it had more than one season, and The Good Wife and The Good Fight were enjoyable, but Crown Court has a clarity of purpose that other court room dramas do not have.
