TV Tuesdays Free Talk
Have you watched any TV shows recently you want to discuss? Any shows you want to recommend or are hyped about? Feel free to discuss anything here.
Please just try to provide fair warning of spoilers if you can.
A few weeks ago, I wrote something about Zero Day being a good show after I had watched the first episode. I know nobody cares, but I would like to post an official retraction. Zero Day is not a good show. It is a watchable show, it is a fun show, but it is a ridiculous show. It does the classic Law & Order 'ripped from the headlines' thing, but cranks it up to 11. Even my parents, who are 100% the target demographic thought it was insane. Would I go back and watch it again? Without a doubt.
Speaking of Netflix shows, I got sucked into 3 episodes of Adolescence last night and so far it's the best thing I've seen on Netflix since Baby Reindeer. God, the Brits are an intimidating bunch. Between these kids and the "fuck off, clean shirt" kids from Peep Show, I don't think I'll ever be able to look at 12 year old English boy in eyes.
On Apple TV, I am still holding onto my Severance shares even though there has been a lot of recent anxiety in the market. I hate to say it, but if they don't have a payoff this week, I might have to sell. Dope Thief, on the other hand, has a lot potential. Paperboy does an Omar Little impersonation with discount Pedro Pascal from Civil War? Count me in!
Finally, White Lotus continues to be the gold standard. The 5 minutes of pure "Christopher Walken in Pulp Fiction" energy from one of my favorite actors in the last episode is something I will revisit a lot over the next few years. In six months, someone is going to put up one of those "If I like these three critically acclaimed shows, what else should I watch?" posts, and White Lotus better be in the top of the replies.
