Daredevil is so close to being good — but it feels so small and the fights feel too bland with a piece of ultra-violence, which doesn’t make up for it.
Whoever is writing Bosch: Legacy is someone is hope i never meet at a party. Speaking of bland and small… the wooden performances aren’t helping either. Maddie is working with what she has, but her arc and dialog is terrible.
i ve been reading that series for ages and was excited when this was all announced, but they kind if ruined it with Legacy and the quick crossover for the future properties. The worst sin was not getting Mickey and letting that series be made at netflix. they could have had such a great universe.
The first episode of The Time Tunnel (1966) must have cost a fortune. A lot of the structures will likely be reused in later episodes. The sets are huge and well-built, and all the electronics look believable and delightfully 1960s. The visuals are amazing, making use of all the resources that made science fiction great before computer graphics. To top it all off, this episode features a recreation of the Titanic and lots of extras. This show looks better than most films of its time.
Unfortunately, the script is subpar, wasting every opportunity for drama and completely disregarding time paradoxes. Complications are resolved before they can build tension, and they never build in complexity. The events succeed automatically, and the intervention of the main characters has no consequence. The script also contradicts basic guidelines by only introducing major aspects of a main character by the end of the third act, while others (like the Captain of Titanic) are given no development whatsoever. He's nothing more than a lifeless wax statue.
The Time Tunnel feels like science fiction for those who are not fans of science fiction. I kept thinking that Star Trek TOS would probably manage to do the same plot with a tenth of the budget and ten times more excitement. The Time Tunnel takes itself way too seriously.
That was just the first episode though. Maybe it gets better.
On another note, I only watched this show because I am using Stremio+Real Debrid now. It is amazing how much content opened up for me since I no longer have to hunt for barely seeded torrents to fulfill my random curiosities. Many of which are not available on legal streaming services.
If I had to guess, I would say that, along with the star-studded cast, The Morning Show rose to prominence for its intelligent treatment of the "me too" phenomenon. The narrative of corporate backstabbing is full of vacuous grandstanding and sappy melodrama. I compare it to a Brazilian company-centered soap opera, which is either a good or a bad thing depending on your tastes. Our soap operas are excellent.
I must ask: How important are morning shows in America? Because the series treats them as a non-fantasy Game of Thrones. As if the destiny of the world was in the balance or something.
