Going to preface by saying I haven’t watched this specific video yet, but this is something I wish people would see. Whedon got a reputation for writing great female characters because he wrote Buffy. And rightly so, Buffy was such a great female character and had other well-written female characters for the time period. The biggest problem is that he hasn’t grown or changed his writing of female characters very much and society has moved on. He was super feminist for the 90s, but not for 2019.
I love that series and still hum it's songs, but yeah, some of Whedon's work now, like Buffy, as well, do feel a little dated. Her commentary for this series really fits with Buffy too for me.

A really good essay on one of my favorite miniseries. I like how she went though different ways of reading it both then and now, and such.
