The current political state of affairs is dark and messed up enough that I don't know if I really care to watch an alternate timeline of the same shitty dynamics we're dealing with right now....

Coupled with that, Narcos, The Crown, and Chernobyl have all taught me that I'd rather watch a dramatized version of real events instead of a dramatized version of realistic events-- be as liberal as you want with the details (I'm aware those three glossed over/altered a LOT), but if the takeaway is the same as what really happened, I don't care.
Lastly that production value looks just like Amazon's, both of which remind me of a high-end student film. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it just feels like the American equivalent of a BBC program: somewhere between half-assed and full-assed, closer to the half than the full.

Meh, looks like another American exceptionalism propoganda pretending to be an alternate history drama, like Man in the High Castle.
