I actually went to see him speak at a book signing. Apparently Coraline is among the books people bring to him most frequently and it's almost always a very worn, beat up, and well used copy. It is apparently very well loved. He says he gets tons of young women telling him it was the first adventure book they read with a main character they related to. It was especially pertinent as I had just gotten my niece a copy for that very reason!

I 10000% believe it. I actually never really knew most his work, or at least not as his. I watched Coraline with my partner not knowing anything about it, I picked up sandman comics 3 years ago...

I 10000% believe it. I actually never really knew most his work, or at least not as his. I watched Coraline with my partner not knowing anything about it, I picked up sandman comics 3 years ago because I thought the art style was cool and never paid attention to the author, I watched Good Omens not knowing it was by him and Terry Pratchett, and I picked up american gods a couple weeks ago because it was $3 at a used book sale. It wasn't until a couple days ago when I finished the book and read the "about the author" section that all the connections were drawn for me. I'll definitely be picking up a copy of Coraline for any nieces and nephews I have.

Hopefully then we'll get more Terry Pratchett? Though I don't think I would say no to a prestige television retelling of his collection of Norse myths. Maybe then I'd actually be able to remember...
