Hey it's another one of these hot take videos tearing down a semi-bad show. For anyone who has watched Riverdale, don't expect this to be a list of things that don't make sense in the show, there's plenty other videos for this, instead it focuses on the writing and characters specifically.
I have plenty of issues with Riverdale, but in general I don't like the show because instead of being an actual drama with crime elements that focuses on characters and their issues they insist on introducing some new terrific danger every season which then gets resolved in an even dumber way. But it also refuses to treat it's supposed teenage characters like actual teenagers, a lot of bad shit happens to them, and nothing ever has any actual effect. This just gives Riverdale a real "nothing really matters" tone which stops you from getting invested into anyone.
I have a similar analysis of Riverdale (and similarly Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and I assume will have the same feelings about Nancy Drew if I get around to watching it) as @Grzmot but...
I have a similar analysis of Riverdale (and similarly Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and I assume will have the same feelings about Nancy Drew if I get around to watching it) as @Grzmot but instead of it being why I dislike the show, its why I love them. I find them to be so much fun to watch. They all jump the shark like 3 episodes in and from there its a fucking adventure to guess what stupid shit the writers will come up with next. Characters can do literally anything they want at any given time and 99% of the time it will be resolved by something even more batshit happening and it is so fucking funny. I have 3 group chats with various friend groups dedicated to just talking about how fucking bonkers these shows are. I am under no illusion that what I am watching is good, but to me they are SO FUN to watch. I definitely see why they aren't everyone's cup of tea, but fuck do I love these stupid fucking shows.

I agree though, if you're watching these shows to then amuse yourself with the weekly reddit threads or shittalk them with friends, they're great for that.
