We finished up For All Mankind. It ended up being a really good season! They ended with about 1 minute of the next season. It takes place in 1995. I won't give away any more than that.

Some friends of my spouse had recommended checking out Last Tango in Halifax on Netflix. It's a British show that tells story of a couple of widowed elderly people who knew each other in high school. They're both single again and end up finding each other online. They start a relationship and their families get to know one another and all each others problems. I'd call it a dramedy - half drama, half comedy. It starts out fairly light-hearted and funny, though in episode 3 one of the side characters is the victim of a violent attack that seemed out-of-place for what we had seen so far. Overall, it's better than I was expecting (because I wasn't expecting much). They don't often make TV shows about elderly people, and when they do, they are often hard to watch, so it's nice to see something like this.

welp, I'm pretty much starting new shows this week

    • Ted Lasso (2020) - Ted Lasso centers on an idealistic — and clueless — all-American football coach hired to manage an English football club — despite having no soccer coaching experience at all.
    • Rutherford Falls (2021) - Rutherford Falls follows Nathan Rutherford, the eponymous denizen of a small New England town, who is having difficulty facing the inevitable changes to his way of life.
    • Mare of Easttown (2021) - Mare of Easttown follows a small-town Pennsylvania detective who investigates a local murder at a time when her own life is crumbling around her.

I'm late to the Ted Lasso game. Rutherford Falls is Ed Helms. I can only assume he's the same character he is in everything he does. I'm iffy on this one.

Mare of Easttown has Kate Winslet and Guy Pearce and reviews suggest that it's a pulpy detective story --- if this is true, I'm excited. Winslet is pretty consistent with taking on good roles.

Lastly, for fans of Gomorrah, they made Immortal, which I guess is some backstory for Ciro. The ratings aren't great, but while we wait for this next season to come out (soon), I'll take what I can get. This is a movie.

    • Immortal, The (L'Immortale) (2019) - Ciro's body is sinking in the dark waters of the Gulf of Naples. And as it sinks deeper and deeper, memories emerge. The sounds muffled by the water merge with the screams of fleeing people. It is 1980, the earth shakes, the palace collapses, but under the

Spoiler if you haven't seen L'immortale

L'immortale is the vehicle they used to bring Ciro back into Gomorrah after it was heavily implied, and assumed by everyone, that he'd been killed towards the end of last series.

I quite enjoyed it, and wouldn't have minded seeing a six or eight episode spin-off series come out of it.

He's by far my favorite character in the series. It's a stretch, but I like it :)

I'm wondering how they'll handle things in the next series, or just assume everyone has watched l'immortale and carry on like nothing happened.

That kid gave a pretty good performance, too.
