The only thing I disagree about is bringing up, "why not just use hypergols? No ignition!" I worked at a hypergolic thruster company and did development and test. His description of simplicity of in-orbit operations hides the insane ground development time.
Maybe back in the 60's when we didn't care if someone inhaled this stuff, we could develop hypergolic thrusters short period in time. But the accidental release procedures for the air and ground of these chemical is insane. I partially am in support for these crazy rules and regulations because that stuff is SCARY. Red clouds ain't a joke... The entire industry is pivoting to in-space ignition with Nitrous Ethane or Methalox because hypergols takes way too long to develop new hardware.

The ocean is known to take any complex system that isn't just a boat hull and find ways to tear it apart. Maybe they'll have to build some kind of tidal pool infrastructure around it.
Desalination of water is something I think needs a ton more attention, so kudos to these peeps!

I can't find it, but Spirit Halloween actually kicked him off and paid him for it. Even uploaded it to their YouTube page.
"This is the theme of Spirit Halloween, haunting the buildings of every business Jeff Bezos killed!"

I attempted to do the entire hike in one go back in 2019, but got off after 900-ish miles for various reasons (snow, boredom, finances).
I want so badly to say I've completed it, and have committed to finish it section by section. Just got back on and knocked out another 80 miles! Here I come Canada! Slowly & when I can get PTO!

Best tip i ever learned was brew with like 3/5 - 3/4 your total batch size and cool it instantly with a 2 gallon spring water from the store. Instantly cools it and a lot less boil-overs when I'm not paying attention haha
I agree with your distinction. The way I see it in practical terms is developers/programmers can spool up an instance of their code & test it, totally screw it up, change the line of code, then test it again with no real stakes. You step in the realm of engineering when you haven't don't something yet and you're doing to planning/calculations/deep thoughts process for it to work with as few test/implementation cycles as possible.
I'm a test engineer where I have to build some fixtures to test components. Those fixtures when they deal with high pressure and I have to do safety reviews. Very tedious planning and design. That's engineering for me.
But I also build fixtures and test components that I do REALLY scrappy. And I just do it with assumptions because there is no stakes for cost or damange. I don't call that engineering, I call that hoodrat shit. I LOVE both aspects of my job, but half of it is engineering half of it is me just doing grunt mechanical work.
