AnimeJapan 2020, Family Anime Festa 2020 cancellation.
Due to the novel coronavirus outbreak and the call from the Japanese government to cancel large-scale events, but above all thinking about the health of our visitors and everyone involved, we have decided to cancel the event.

    An excerpt from tezukaosamu.net-

Tezuka Osamu's manga and animated films had a tremendous impact on the shaping of the psychology of Japan's postwar youth. His work changed the concept of the Japanese cartoon, transforming it into an irresistible art form and incorporating a variety of new styles in creating the "story cartoon." Changing the face of literature and movies, his work also influenced a range of other genres.
His impact on animated film was equal to that which he had on the manga world. The lovable characters appearing in works such as Japan's first animated TV series "ASTRO BOY," the color animated TV series "Jungle Emperor Leo", and the two-hour animated special "Bander Book," captured the hearts of the Japanese through the medium of television, propelling the animated film to tremendous popularity in Japanese general society.

mhmm. Felt like a cheap shot on KyoAni and Shinkai tbh but again, I am not familiar with this director and their works.

Finally caught up with latest City Hunter chapter.....or should I say the one that was scanlated recently. It is funny that a series that spawned 4 seasons and several OVAs and is mega popular in France never got complete English manga adaptation.

I also started with Double Taisei recently and liking it so far. It has its own issue with pacing. The first five chapters felt really fast and could have slowed down in my opinion. Unfortunately there has been a rumour floating around that it will be axed soon so there is that.

Anyways despite the generic cliché this season has to offer, shows like Cautious Hero, No Guns Life are pretty decent and I have been hearing good reviews from my pals regarding Babylon.

So far, I have been only digging Kabukicho Sherlock despite having only 3/24 episodes on-air till now.

Continuing Kabukichō Sherlock. I am in love with this series and the modern spin they gave to The Red Headed League in episode 2. I am liking this bounty hunting method of hiring detectives. OP and ED were super catchy as far as this Fall season is concerned, it is really in my top 3.

Last week I watched Weathering With You in theatres. Really enjoyed this movie. Those visuals were mind blowing and Tokyo cityscape looked amazing and Shinkai managed to capture the entire city in this movie not only from ground but from the high skies too. Each and every single of these shots were breathtaking.

I would highly recommend people here to watch Africa no Salaryman's English dub on Funimation. The English VA's have done amazing job and just from first episode, I dare say that this show is massively underrated in comedy department of this season.

Pioneer of bishojo (cute girl) manga, father of lolicon and alcoholic, Hideo Azuma passed away at the age of 69 due to esophageal cancer. Created Little Pollon, Nanako SOS, Disappearance Diary, etc. We would have no moe culture if it were not for you. R.I.P.

Hideo Azuma made his debut 1969 with a comedy, continued to create sci-fi, absurd, nonsense, etc. and gained a popularity by his cute girls. Father of lolicon inspired Rumiko Takahashi and many followers.

Manga industry had been divided into "major" or "minor" until 70's. Azuma published on major magazines, but surprisingly participated the Comiket with his doujinshi. He broke invisible barriers and Otaku culture invoked. He was called "the Big Minor" with respect.

After heavy working, he was addicted to alcohol. Quit manga, depression, disappearance and homeless. This experience was published as Disappearance Diary, which won the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize, Angoulême🇫🇷 and Gran Guinigi🇮🇹.

People are criticizing the plot but I loved it. The Tokyo cityscape was both brilliant and breathtaking, especially the 360˚ and aerial shots.
