Kubiyo Yeah I wonder if this will lead to a situation where people will report their income as $2,400 or so, and take the additional $2,500. Kind of what happens with the social welfare in the states...Yeah I wonder if this will lead to a situation where people will report their income as $2,400 or so, and take the additional $2,500. Kind of what happens with the social welfare in the states where people don't report their income as that would mean the welfare would stop; so people would limit themselves on how much money they were receiving, effectively stagnating?

Kubiyo I think governments should trust their people to police themselves before intervening. I think nanny-states aggravate the problem as it takes the choice of behaviour out of the people who need to...I think governments should trust their people to police themselves before intervening. I think nanny-states aggravate the problem as it takes the choice of behaviour out of the people who need to choose what's best for them. It's an education problem. But investing money and time on education is the long-term solution. Governments directly addressing this issue through these policies is a short-term solution; statistics will definitely show an impact and officials will point at their success, and move on.
I mainly use MacOS, but my all-time favourite system font is the Ubuntu font.
