Hey, I'm 'Joey' on the Toggles leaderboards. Good Game, everyone! I've never seen a game quite like this one, but I had a lot of fun riddling out everything. I spent my first week or so just collecting data and experimenting without worrying about scores, and once I had a good idea of what each control meant I went for it. Every day at midnight I would hand-compute my predictions until I was fairly confident in their meanings, then I wrote a program to compute them for me. I had hoped to automate the process of submitting my predictions, but Toggles lacked a submission API and had security in place to stop me from just CURLing my guesses in. I got off to an early lead like that, but accidentally fat-fingered a few of the inputs one day while traveling over the Thanksgiving holidays. I had always been worried that I would incorrectly enter my predictions (I was double and triple-checking my submissions every day lol), so I wrote a Chrome userscript that would display my computed guesses next to each control and highlight any controls that did not match my generated predictions so that I wouldn't botch my inputs again. Toggles' gameplay was interesting in that you couldn't do anything to get ahead once you fell behind - you just had to keep playing and hope that there'd be an upset that put you ahead. And we saw just that on 1 December when no one got a perfect score (probably because of input #19). I'm really happy this came down to a close race in the end - it wouldn't have been exciting if one person just led the pack the whole time. It was much more fun that the lead changed hands a few times before the field was leveled and Thorn and I could cross the finish line together. As it currently stands, I'm pretty confident I understand how 29 out of the 30 controls work. I can't say I fully understand input #19 - I have a guess but I won't know until tonight whether its correct. Other than that, though, great job @mattw2121 for writing the game and for using the numerical ranges as hints to their meanings. I had so much fun figuring out why input #10 specifically went from 6-9. Here's my understanding of the inputs:

The best way I've heard it put was by the youtube analyst Mother's Basement when he was comparing Jujutsu Kaisen (one of the biggest current shonen animes) with Chainsaw Man. Very early on, both shows have their protagonists fight a monster who is able to trap the heroes in an infinitely large (or, in the case of Chainsaw Man, infinitely-looping) labyrinth. Jujutsu Kaisen, being a shonen anime with horror themes, has its heroes outsmart the problem by separating as far as possible until the labyrinth's power cannot be sustained anymore and dissipates. Chainsaw Man, being a horror comedy anime told through the lens and with the tropes of a shonen anime, tackles the problem head-on by having Chainsaw Man find the Infinity Devil in the labyrinth and commit to cutting him up with chainsaws for all of eternity, replenishing his strength with the Infinity Devil's blood until the Infinity Devil gives up. And he kept it up for so long that the rest of the party was visibly bored with the fight instead of scared of the Infinity Devil (https://youtu.be/fUWIUB7JS0I?t=2973). All that being said, Chainsaw Man still includes comedy elements (hence Denji's choice to make touching a boob and later to have sex before he dies his goal for his miserable life), so whether you'll want to keep watching will come down to whether you're looking for a pure horror anime or not. Dark Gathering might be something to look for if you just want horror (I only started the show but I've heard great things about where its going), but if not just know that Chainsaw Man isn't afraid to kill off characters and it's writer is adept at not only subverting expectations but also fucking with the audience's whole perception of what's going on in the story.

I've been focusing on Pikmin 4 this last week. I believe I'm getting to the end of the campaign (without any spoilers, I've 100%ed all of the levels up to the house level you see in the intro), and I'm liking it so far. I think it's a little cheap that monsters on the surface can be permanently killed (I guess the focus of the game is in caves so they have them respawn there instead), but I can forgive that. It makes the gameplay easier, and the game is marketed to a younger audience anyways. My biggest complaint is that they seem to retcon the previous games in the series. Pikmin 1 and 2 had proper continuity - Olimar crashed on Earth, made it back home, and then went back to the planet to raise money to save his failing company. Pikmin 3 had him crash land on Earth again for some reason, be saved by the crew of the S.S. Drake, and return to Earth in the DLC to retrieve his ship and its parts for his company. Pikmin 4 seems to subtly rewrite all of these events and potentially chalk up the events of Pikmin 2 as a bad dream Olimar had. I probably need to finish the game before passing full judgement on the story, but it seems a bit tired to have Olimar crash on Earth every game and I can never forgive trying to retroactively erase a game by calling it a dream. Story aside, though, its been a solid game and I hear it really hits its stride in the post-game Dandori mode. I can't wait to see how everything plays out

That's when the show stopped being just a normal shonen and started being its own horror anime. I can't wait to see where it goes next season - I've heard that it hasn't hit its stride in Season 1
