Just finished Guardians of the...Hi All, 12-year reddit user looking for something new! I work in the AEC industry, nothing too exciting. I've been on a kick collecting vinyl and playing games. Just finished Guardians of the Galaxy and getting back into Omori and Elden Ring.
I used to be a structural engineer, but after a while I couldn't see myself doing that kind of work anymore. I've transitioned into a role that's more management focused and I get to work with a wider variety of disciplines which is really appealing for me.
I knew an architect growing up and it always seemed like a cool profession, but I felt I was more analytically focused so I went the engineering route.
Even though it didn't end up being for me, I wouldn't dissuade someone from going that route. I would recommend people really do their research on the industries they want to get into and don't be afraid of switching if they find they don't like it.
