I would add that this clip featuring Slavoj Zizek is a great introduction into some of the subtle changes of capitalism over the last 20 years.

If we want to go back to the 60s-80s I think a series of really important shifts happened in both the US and the UK that changed capitalism (perhaps evolved) into the the late stage capitalism we exist in today. Reagan and Thatcher shaped the course of our planet beyond what they thought was possible and quite possibly in the worst ways they could have.

I’ve always got a bottle of Tajin and it gets probably the most varied use.

Bay leaves are great! Can’t be overstated. I’ve recently taken to making my own vegetable broths, throwing a couple bay leaves in just elevated them in my opinion.

As some have mentioned, when we talk about international distribution of media, subtitling is common. As such, the quality of the subtitling matters, adequate translations are required to insure the nuance of what is stated is translated, not just the literal meaning of words. For example, a Google translation of Beowulf would probably be less enjoyable than the Seamus Heaney translation.

Here’s a guardian article about subtitling and Squid Game.
