(Whether or not China is allowed to build those islands is a whole can of worms I am not going to get into here)

Comment on The case for capping all prison sentences at twenty years in ~society

If you go to any person on the street and ask them if it should work the way it does no one would say yes. There are a couple of problems I can point out off the top of my head.
- Arresting and sentencing is both racist and sexist. We need to be more harsh on judges and police officers who are like this.
- On a similar topic, these government officials (like all government officials) appear to be immune from punishment, at best being dismissed with a large severence.
- Police officers and the state are incentivised by mechanisms they themselves put in place to arrest people. This is logically flawed
- Private prisons are wrong alltogether and public prisoners with no reintergration mechanisms are the same
- People receive incredibly long and cruel punishments for things they should be cared for over, such as a drug addiction or assault because of mental illness
I agree with you that the prison system is flawed and the government refuses to do anything about it. This is not the same thing as chattel slavery. It isn't purely rascist and it isn't for collection cotton on plantations.
EDIT: In addition, the idea of this maximum is flawed in my opinion. The prison system isn't, as many appear to believe, a method of reintegration into society. It is a legalist philosophy intended to scare people from commiting crimes. Implementing a maximum would dimish this. The issues outlined here are societal problems, with the government and private corporations mingling and the government being run by racist officials. That can't be fixed by any one law

Being a native English speaker and seeing all the German memes I thought it would be a relativley easy language and I could finally understand r/ich_iel.

They failed to mention that the role of women in the household has changed from the 60’s, allowing more men to stay home. Also, the life expectancy has rose 7 years. This means more men who are not working may just be retired.

SlipSlop I think this is a great point, regulation trying to stop new technologies always fails. Instead, it should try to control it in order to protect their constituants.Just as business models ought to be constructed that leverage the Internet instead of fight it, so should regulation.

I agree that it is idiotic to force them to remove his name from the resolution. I personally don't believe Kapernick deserves the fame he's received from these issues (excluding the kneeling during the pledge) but I respect people have other opinions.
I do feel that people are too focused on race today however. It makes sense in this context (implying racism by showing the difference in race) but others see to put it in too often. The goal of the modern equality movement I think should move from trying to make people equal in the law to making people equal in people's mind. I understand that people are different in different ways, including skin color, but it should be as important as hair color.
