I can only agree with the opinion of the others. The icon is simply perfect and reflects the spirit of the site and does that better than any arbitrary mascot ever could.

Thank you for your kind words! It’s nice reading someone getting the atmosphere of tracks you recorded. I guess it’s not something every listener notices right off the bat.

No, I don’t play live at the moment. I have not had good experiences with other bandmates in the past and playing completely solo, I’d have a hard time recreating everything, you know.

Yeah, I did all of the tracking, mixing and mastering myself.

I recorded bass and guitar myself and used a combination of Logic Drummer and Addictive Drums 2 for the Drum Parts. Was really fun, as I’ve never used much reamping or vocal double tracking before.

Yeah about the point of playing a certain instrument. I’m getting that too from time to time, but I try not to dwell on those thoughts too long. I think you could actually extrapolate that way of thinking on practically anything creative, but what would be the point of being creative then in the first place? I guess it depends wholly on whether you want to get recognition for your creative workings.

I also had problems with fretting complex chords starting out, but now I’m having the same with playing the piano. Eventually it will work out, when you stay on it and continue to train for it. But if you didn’t hit off with string instruments, that’s completely okay :) Different strokes for different folks

I don’t hear the melodica that often, indeed. I believe I only ever saw it on a YouTube jam about 15 years ago. It’s a very nice and simple instrument.

Yeah, the thing about having to know what to look for when buying used things is universally true! I often ran into buying junk before, so I’m generally more reserved when buying used at all.

I’m still always having anxiety before going on stage, but the more often I played in front of people, the more it was just that I wanted to start playing. It’s just so much fun playing music live and living with the mistakes you make while performing. But at the same time, it’s a huge hassle, so much time is wasted on peparing for a show (rehearsing and sound checks), and then only having your friends and maybe two to three new people show up. Thats why I enjoy making music on my own so much these days.

Anyway are you interested in playing piano again? I’ve always liked the idea, but for me it’s so different than playing instruments with strings on them and I would have to learn so much hand coordination.

I play rock that‘s somewhere between Queens of the Stone Age and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. So, weird Psychedelic Rock.

And you? I read on your bio that you play and review accordions? How long have you played that instrument? Were you ever in a band or had the desire play your music live?

    Hi everyone,

I’m a long time Reddit lurker, dating back to circa 2011, finally leaving due the current situation. Never thought I’d leave, but thinking back it really came a long way and was way overdue. I was long yearning for that time way back when I first started visiting Reddit and tildes seems like a dream come true.

I’m normally not of the kind to contribute in an online community, but I moved to the country over a year ago and also try to do that IRL, so what better place to start than online and anonymous?

I’ve been working in IT for about 13 years now and even though I’ve had a couple of rough and super stressful jobs, in March I’ve finally started a Government job and couldn’t be happier right now.

Hobby-wise I’ve been a musician for about 20 years now. Been in several bands with some gigs over the years, but those projects never took farther than smaller friend/party gigs. Mostly due to other people.

I love watching horror movies and reading horror stories, though I’m a slow ready with a huge backlog. I’m also super into sci-fi and practically all music, except maybe for classical. I like it, though I’d neve go out and listen to say Bach.

So yeah, that’s me. Happy to be here. Heading now to GitHub to support this wonderful project.
