I’ve also thought about haptic feedback, so you’d feel the shot and the ball landing on the terrain, but it would only work on Android phones, so it would come later if at all.

This is a short golf game that I’ve always wanted: runs on any device, no ads, no account, built for a few minutes at a time. It looks simple, but it’s a more detailed game than it appears. The project was directed and designed by me, and built with Claude Code.
If you’re interested in the project’s history:
https://brentlaw.net/notes/golf-game/ - Details where it began
https://brentlaw.net/notes/golf-game-v2/ - What changed between versions and the thinking behind itThis week only: I’ve added a new hole, Long Odds, with its own leaderboard. You choose three letters and an emblem when you post your score to the board. After a week, the challenge is over, and the leaderboard will be frozen. Good luck topping the board!
How to play: A swing tutorial will appear for first-time players, and you can see it again from the +/more menu. The game sets your aim and suggests your club, so all you really need to do is swing. To get a better score though, you’ll need to think like a golfer would. Play the right club out of the right lie, shape the shot with your timing - a draw or a fade - if it helps, and aim exactly where you want the ball to go.
For anyone who played earlier this week, I’ve added a putting green grid so distances there are easier to measure.
About the name: there are thousands of golf games out there, so for now I’m just calling this one BL’s Golf Game.
All feedback, good or bad, is appreciated. I’ll be in the thread to answer any questions you have. Thank you for your time.

Claude Code writes all the code, and I direct it through conversation. I make or approve every decision, and it’s often a lot of back and forth. I write all the text on the pages myself. What I bring is ideas, logic, and reframing when something isn’t working, and I test it by using it. I’ve written about some of the process in the Notes section if you’d like to read more.

There’s a golf game, a drawing program where you can submit your work, and a game about reading server logs. It's been a long time since I last made a website. Any feedback, good or bad, is welcome. Thanks for looking.

I think sports games are common because everyone already knows the rules. They’re also easy to put your own spin on. Golf being solo makes it simpler still with no AI opponents to worry about.
Sunshine Golf Classic is a great example of taking one specific approach. At 13 KB it still looks and plays great!
