Hello Tildes, today I’d like to share the latest version of my personal golf game. This is a short golf game that I’ve always wanted: runs on any device, no ads, no account, built for a few minutes at a time. It looks simple, but it’s a more detailed game than it appears. The project was directed and designed by me, and built with Claude Code.

If you’re interested in the project’s history:

This week only: I’ve added a new hole, Long Odds, with its own leaderboard. You choose three letters and an emblem when you post your score to the board. After a week, the challenge is over, and the leaderboard will be frozen. Good luck topping the board!

How to play: A swing tutorial will appear for first-time players, and you can see it again from the +/more menu. The game sets your aim and suggests your club, so all you really need to do is swing. To get a better score though, you’ll need to think like a golfer would. Play the right club out of the right lie, shape the shot with your timing - a draw or a fade - if it helps, and aim exactly where you want the ball to go.

For anyone who played earlier this week, I’ve added a putting green grid so distances there are easier to measure.

About the name: there are thousands of golf games out there, so for now I’m just calling this one BL’s Golf Game.

All feedback, good or bad, is appreciated. I’ll be in the thread to answer any questions you have. Thank you for your time.

Thanks for trying the game, and great idea! I’ve decided not to add sound, so a hole-out noise isn’t possible. I’m considering some sort of a visual celebration instead. I’ve also thought about haptic feedback, so you’d feel the shot and the ball landing on the terrain, but it would only work on Android phones, so it would come later if at all.

I totally get the no noise choice. I almost always turn sound off on phone games. I also turn haptics off too, so that makes me prefer visual. Your game has a simple and straight forward visual...

I totally get the no noise choice. I almost always turn sound off on phone games. I also turn haptics off too, so that makes me prefer visual. Your game has a simple and straight forward visual style, so maybe a pulse on the ball of some sort? or shrink it since it looks like you already grow it subtly when it's in the air.

Indeed, which is why there are now three different people on Tildes making their own golf games - you, KilledByAPixel and me. What are the odds? For me there's something missing in not seeing it...

For me there's something missing in not seeing it in 3D in some way, but of course that was done a hundred times already and I gotta say I the graphics look good, nice and clean.

I think sports games are common because everyone already knows the rules. They’re also easy to put your own spin on. Golf being solo makes it simpler still with no AI opponents to worry about....

Sunshine Golf Classic is a great example of taking one specific approach. At 13 KB it still looks and plays great!
