Without exemption though, I always get sucked out of the game due to their sound design - particularly the voice acting and recording. It always, always feels extremely amateurish. At first, with the Blackwell games, I could understand it as they were still a new studio, but every single game that I've played - so all of them except the most recent two - have had voice actors that try to overact, are extremely hammy, or are screaming into a mic so there's that crackling distortion on the audio.
I used to review games and I'd always be super excited to get my hands on one of their games, but I'd always go away feeling a little deflated because I'd be taken out of the story, and my eardrums would be bleeding.

I've got a few others on my list that I'd like to play as well:
Once I get some time free from Persona 5, I think I'll start tackling one of these!

Especially in larger forums or online communities, it can be easy to get discouraged when you finally post something only for it to get ignored. It is important to stick with it though, find a post you have some interest in, and post your point of view. That post you make about how you feel about a certain topic might encourage other people to come out of the woodwork and either agree with you, or challenge you on it helping your knowledge on the subject to grow. From that, you'll start to get a bit of confidence and you'll quickly see your perceived awkwardness fall away.

Funnily enough, I always thought it was a Wadjet Eye game, which is why I bought it in the first place!

I'm playing Royal. I actually started on Vanilla, but was enjoying the game and found out I was missing out on quite a lot of content so I decided to get the Royal version when it was on a sale some weeks ago. No regrets, it's been good fun so far!

The usual fan favourite is Unavowed though, which I've still not really got into, despite having bought it a few years ago. I find their games have solid gameplay but the voice acting too frequently takes me out of the experience and leaves me a little disappointed.
Otherwise, the article is a pretty solid list, if a tad safe. If I was to add some of the "lesser known" point and click adventures to the list though, I'd definitely suggest:
- Darkside Detective - funny, spooky and decent puzzles throughout
- Inspector Waffles - a solid and enjoyable game without overstaying its welcome
- Truberbrook - really lovely to look at and great sound design too. Puzzles can get a bit obtuse at times but still a fun game to play.

Got stuck into Persona 5 afterwards and haven't had much time to complete anything else!

Newsnow is still scratching some of the football itch, but it's difficult to sort the wheat from the chaff on there. Hopefully Tildes (or somewhere non-Twitter) will grow to be a decent community to chat with about it all.

- Banished is a fun base building game. It doesn't have much in the way of tutorials but the community is great and there are some fantastic mods out there to enhance the game as well.
- Fights in Tight Spaces is the only card-based-deck-buildery-type game I like. It's similar to Slay the Spire apparently, though I've not played that. You play as a secret agent punching and kicking your way through a number of dangerous gangs until the end. It's a very easy game to pick up and play.
- Disco Elysium is a solid game and I don't recall there being any mechanics that require you to click on things really quickly. You play as an amnesiac detective and there are some pretty funny things to find in that game.
- Wasteland series is pretty good, it's similar to the original Fallout games and is well-written, but can be a tad tricky in places if you're unprepared.
- TOEM is a cute, chill game where you take photographs of things. It can be quite difficult to find everything, but a good play.
There are a lot of great point and click adventures or humorous detective-type games on Steam as well, which are my usual plays:
- Broken Sword series
- Beneath / Beyond a Steel Sky
- Monkey Island series
- Full Throttle
- Sam and Max series
- Frog Detective series
- Clam Man
- Guard Duty
- Pants Quest
- Demetrios

VinzerDeling Your top three are my top three as well. At least the blackout happened prior to the start of transfer window so we aren't missing too much!Your top three are my top three as well. At least the blackout happened prior to the start of transfer window so we aren't missing too much!
I like Talking Simpsons a lot, it's two guys that aren't related to the production of the Simpsons in any way, but they are going through each episode chronologically to review all of them. They have started repeating themselves because I get the feeling they want to avoid the later episodes where the quality drops a bit. They also do movies/Futurama/King of the Hill/other cartoons on their Patreon feed.
I'm also a big fan of Taskmaster, so the Taskmaster Podcast is one I listen to quite regularly. The host is former winner, Ed Gamble, and he has almost gone through every single episode in the UK run of the show, and I don't think it's been announced if he'll move on to do the other territories versions of the show afterwards, but hopefully he will.
Other than that, a few of the sitcom-based ones:
Just took the first link off google for all of them so apologies for the mixing of Spotify and iTunes. You can find all of them in whatever podcast app you choose to use though. Of those, I think the Good Place podcast probably stands out as the best of the bunch, but it has completed its run so there won't be any more episodes of it.. Parks and Rec had Rob Lowe/Alan Yang as hosts for the first run, but they've switched to Jim O'Heir and Greg Levine and they have an odd form of banter between them that I'm not quite tuned into just yet. Office Ladies is also pretty solid, but it did start fairly rough. They've hit their groove now though so the more recent ones are much better.
It's Always Sunny and Scrubs podcasts tend to drift off topic quite a bit, though I don't mind so much as I find the chemistry between the cast and the chat they have quite entertaining anyway. It just very rarely relates to the show itself, probably only 10-20% of the podcast they talk about the episode sometimes.
The others are a bit more middle of the road, I have a large backlog of them because I'm not that enthusiastic about the show or the lineup in the podcast, but they do focus more on the episodes than Scrubs/IASIP.
