Osaka is great and there's tons to do, but it feels like more of a concrete jungle than Tokyo. Kyoto is more picturesque and has a lot more "old Japan" so might be more appealing to explore if you've already stayed in Tokyo. There's also the option to stay in a traditional townhouse in Kyoto, if you don't need hotel services.

Unlike Blur, Oasis and Suede, I don't think Pulp's slightly disco take on Britpop garnered much international success; maybe their focus on the seedy underbelly of British culture maybe didn't translate well? Jarvis Cocker sang the end credits for Asteroid City though, so I may be wrong.

One of their bigger hits, Common People did attract the attention of one William Shatner though... It's such a great cover and transposes Cocker's mostly dry sarcastic presentation to palpable rage and spite. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ainyK6fXku0

Probably a good thing someone else sang the chorus... I suspect this punkier version would sit better with American audiences too.

Perhaps an odd suggestion, but have you considered standing desks? I work and do most of my KB&M gaming while standing, and feel much better for it. Most standing desks are adjustable, so you can always fall back to a sub-par chair if you're not using it very long.

I never found a chair I can't slouch and hurt my back in, and a perfectly functional hand winch-adjustable desk from Ikea was cheaper than any even half-decent seats. Completely dispensing with an office chair was also a huge boon in my tiny apartment. There's always sofa and wireless input for lazy gaming.

I agree with your argument, but just need to point out that there is no way they'd be visiting from another galaxy in your scenarios. Maybe a couple of stars away at most. Even at 1000x FTL it would take thousands of years to reach Andromeda, and there's no way you'd be able to spot habitable planets with 2.5million years of latency.

I love the Haruhi Suzumiya series. Only watched the anime because 4chan was obsessed with it, but got hooked and read all the fan translated light novels that were available at the time. I kinda forgot about it then during the pandemic I rewatched the whole thing plus The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, which I didn't see back in the day, it still stands up. Even the repetitive S2, which was painful to watch as it aired was good on a rewatch.

Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai is pretty different but has a very similar feel, and features some surprisingly mature relationships for anime.

One Punch Man S1 animation was phenomenal. S2 was a huge disappointment in comparison, under a different studio, but it was still entertaining and nice to see more of the characters without reading the manga.

I'll have to check out FLCL based on your taste. :)

The English dub is fantastic. It's quite old, so might seem cliché to modern audiences, but Watanabe probably created those tropes.

The Valkyries in the first game were great fun, but I had to turn down difficulty on the equivalents in Ragnarok because they just felt cheap rather than challenging.
